but the writer has about lost his Mojo. I find it hard to make myself take, edit, and file pictures for the blog, anymore. We left home almost two weeks ago, heading for Cloudcroft, New Mexico. The first three days were made up of just driving. We stopped at Tyler State Park, Lake Colorado City State Park, and Brantley Lake State Park on the way. It was above 100* at each of those stops, so we didn’t do anything but park the trailer, turn on the air conditioner, and wait for it to cool down inside.
What a blessing it was to arrive at Silver campground, just a mile or two from the village of Cloudcroft. The highest it got the eight days we were there was the middle 70’s. Lows in the nights ranged from the high forties to low fifties.
We spent those eight days visiting with friend from Texas. They were all like us, escaping the Summer heat at home. We sat around enjoying each others company,
as well as making a few day trips.
One of those was to Hatch, NM. The green chili capitol of the Country. Sparky’s has the reputation of having the best green chili cheese burger there is.
Quite a place.
Waiting on our food. When it arrived, it looked so good I forgot to get a picture.
They have lots of characters you don’t see anymore.
Another day it was BBQ, in Cloudcroft. Some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. That’s brisket and a beef rib. The rib weighed over a pound. Yea, I ate the whole thing, but wanted nothing for supper.
Another day found us at the beach of New Mexico.
It’s definitely white, and plentiful.
Picnic areas.
A fascinating landscape, for sure.
Monday afternoon, the 15th. finds us at Heron Lake State Park. A few miles South of Chama, New Mexico. How long we’ll stay here is anyone’s guess. It’s cool, has water and electric, and costs $14.00 a night.
It’s hard to beat that…..jc
