When one thinks of Acadia National Park they think of Bar Harbor, Blackwoods campground, Thunder Hole, and Cadillac Mountain. We've been there once, done that, back before our parks became crazy. Had no desire to do it again nowadays.
Much like the Grand Canyon has(had) the North Rim, and Bryce Canyon has Red Canyon, Acadia has its quieter side. Totally removed Geographically from the Bar Harbor part of Acadia is Schoodic Point. Consisting of a nice campground, a scenic drive, bike trails, and beautiful coastal views. We spent six nights there enjoying the scenery, food, and the biking.
The area was low key, small town, and a wonderful location just to unwind after being on the go for eight weeks. We actually met a couple from near our home who were winding down their own two month roadtrip. We chatted most evenings, comparing notes of the days activities.
Coming up, the road home...jc
