We spent three days visiting the Alabama Hills. A beautiful place. Lots of beautiful rocks scattered over hundreds of acres. The local chamber has a booklet that describes the exact location of a number of movie shots. We located all ten movie spots. It felt sort of weird to be standing in the exact spot where Randolph Scott got shot, or the bridge from Gunga Din was located. Following are a number of shots from the area. I’ve many more on my other two camera’s, so may do a followup at some future time.
Back to Quartzsite for the big tent RV show, and visits with other friends. Didn’t find much of interest in all the stuff for sale. Had a great time, visiting.
From Quartzsite, we made our way back up to Parker, AZ for the Parker 425 offroad race. Lots of fast trucks, and other unusual sights. Hope to make it back next year.
Then, it was back to Quartzsite for the Dome Rock Gathering. Over 200 molded fiberglass trailers. Lots of friends, as well as new acquaintances. I think there were more Escape’s, than Casita’s there this year. The beer fairy visited our trailer one afternoon, and there was RC Aircraft show one day. Even a real jet.
Last evening campfire,
We spent a few days at Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, AZ. I had read of the wild horses of the Salt River. An old friend that winters in Phoenix took us on a tour. What majestic animals they were. With all the rain, the desert is green, and they are taking advantage of bountiful grazing.
We’re now in Tucson, at Gilbert Ray campground. It is raining, and the sound on the roof is putting me to sleep. The next time you hear from me will be after we get home. If the Livewriter issue isn’t resolved, that will probably be the end of Eggrollings…..jc
