"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"-MARK TWAIN

South, by Southwest

We had one other nice day at Crane’s Mill park before the rain settled in.  We decided to just do a drive through the neighboring hill country.  It is beyond description some of the homes you see being built in this area.  I didn’t take any pictures, but I don’t think Hollywood has anything on the rural area between San antonio and Austin.

We found ourselves close to a renowned tourist destination, so decided to stop for a break.

Not much to it, but since Willie and Waylon made it famous back in the early 70’s, folks have been stopping by, having a beer or two, and listening to music from the stage.

Lots of license plates everywhere, even in the john.

We met some folks from Hawaii.  That’s him in the tank top and Wanda in the jacket.  Go figure.

Lots of sleepy, one eyed cats around, too.

Back at the campground, this was our neighbor.  They stayed parked like this for three days.  My acd, odp, whatever; was giving me major problems.  Just wanted to go over and ask if they needed any assistance.

We were watching the weather in New Mexico and Arizona pretty close.  With a forecast of rain, snow, cold, and wind, we decided on a change of plan.  The Big Bend area had a great forecast for the next week, so we headed in that direction.  Big skies and sunshine.

Also home to a few broken dreams.
