After only one night back in the USA, we headed back to Canada. It was only a mile or so from the campground to the crossing over to Campobello Island. Back in New Brunswick. Campobello Island was a childhood playground of FDR, and he maintained the Summer home there for his family throughout his life. The island had many Summer homes of the wealthy from New York. Most aged out, rotted down, burned, etc; but three examples still exist within the national park.
Roosevelt's.
A family friend's next door.
And finally, a small home across the road.
Eleanor was quite a lady who didn't come into her own until after FDR'S death. I should have taken more pictures, but just didn't. I would highly recommend visiting Campobello Island if in the area, and definitely have tea with Eleanor. The border crossing back to the US was another non-event.
On to Acadia NP...jc
You were within a mile of Peter (Canadian Traveller) and Bea (Sidewalk)'s home on the island. They run the Island Tours from late spring to early fall. Too bad you missed them.
