We got away from home around 9AM Friday and had an uneventful journey to a friends lake house on Lake DeArbonne, in North Central Louisiana. We even had a chance to do lunch with our youngest daughter in Vicksburg on the way through. She was doing a system conversion for the bank she works for and had to be there overnight. We just had to stop and get a goodbye hug.
Jan has a beautiful home right on the lake and we spent most of our time there on her pier visiting. I did manage to do a couple of odd jobs for her, but nothing too strenuous.
This evening finds us at the top of Mt. Wilhelmina. The location being Queen Wilhelmina State Park, Arkansas. The temperature is in the mid to upper seventies with a cool breeze blowing. We have all the windows on the Casita open and just may sleep with them open tonight. We can’t believe how cool it is up here. I’m sure we’ll find the heat again tomorrow as we drop down toward the Arkansas river in Oklahoma.
Nothing exciting to report so far, but that is good. Just being on the road is excitement enough……..jc
Ditto on your last comment. I have to wait until Sept. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteYour cool weather there sounds like heaven. So glad you got a break from the heat!
ReplyDeleteI was reading a Wikipedia article last night on the Appalachian Mountains. It said that the Ouachita Mountains used to be part of the Appalachian Range.
Don't know if it's true or not, but it was an interesting read. And it was really nice to read your post from there today.
Bon Voyage!
ReplyDeleteThose temps sound wonderful!! Enjoy!!
