"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"-MARK TWAIN

Acadia/Coastal Maine

DSC_1787 (Medium)

Acadia National park is scattered over many different parts of Mt. Desert Island.  Far vistas from the top of Cadillac mountain are tough to photograph.

And getting the correct timing for Thunder Hole is also tough.

The loop road carries you past many nice places for pictures of the rocky shore.

We took a day trip across the border to New Brunswick, and Campobello Island.  Visited the island home of FDR.  Another cloudy day which makes for washed out pictures.

Most everything in the home is family heirlooms and several docents do a great job of bringing the home alive.

While Wanda was waiting to have tea with Eleanor,

I visited Head Harbor Lighthouse on the end of the island.

One of the four ladders used to cross the inlets at low tide to access the lighthouse.

After returning to the mainland and the U S, we stopped at West Quaddy Head lighthouse.  Located on the easternmost point of the United States.

Fall is beginning to show itself in some areas.

That’s what we’re waiting on…..jc

  4. What a great trip you guys are having, sure hope I can convince the cowboy to venture that way someday--maybe in the little truck camper?? Enjoy yourselves and here's hoping lots of sunshine comes your way!
