It seems most trails here on the North Rim go Up and Down rather than horizontal. One trail we happened upon a couple of years ago was the Cape Final trail. It’s an easy stroll through the forest to a couple of nice overlooks with the dessert being the Cape, itself. Friends from Kansas were wanting to do a hike and it fit the bill, nicely.
I didn’t take many pictures as it was midday, and the lighting was horrible. We made stops at each of the overlooks.
Three steps back and you’re history.
We made it to the Cape, itself, and each had to get a picture of the geological survey marker. Don’t really know why. Just because it was there, I guess.
We were joined by a young couple from the Netherlands. I always enjoy meeting such folks and sharing a few minutes conversation. Very interesting what they think about our Country, and always enjoy hearing about theirs.
Upon leaving the Cape I noticed this very bright cactus hiding in the shadows,
as well as this guy guarding a campsite marker.
Beautiful scenery, good friends, flowers, and wildlife. Things that make for a great hike…...jc
As a former land surveyor, I also like to find benchmarks. It's more fun now thst I don't have to do it for work. Really nice photos!
