"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"-MARK TWAIN

Just Driftin'

Not a lot to moo about the last couple of weeks.  It has just been normal days around home, doing the things that need taking care of in the Spring.  Not that I'm complaining.  With the weather in the midwest the way it is, We would just as soon be home.

Have the garden, such as it is, planted.  Should be coming in about the time we leave for an extended trip.  That's the way it's happened the last two years.  The neighbors like it that way.

Had a BBQ competition to judge yesterday.  Left home without the camera, so didn't get any pictures of the festival.  It turned out well for a first time event.  There were thirteen teams competing for a little prize money and lots of bragging rites.

We do have plans to get away with friends within the next few days for a trip up to Mountain View, AR.  We'll spend a couple of days getting there, then tour around that area for a few more.  It's been a few years since we were there so it will be enjoyable.  From Mountain View, we may journey on to spend some time with friends from the Navy days, back in the last century.

Still trying to figure out the direction for the Summer.  We've got lots of spots to fill in on the map.

There's a lot of empty space toward the Northeast, but the West is still calling really loud.  Would love to spend a few weeks around Columbia Falls, MT again this Summer.

Pretty much it for now.  Hopefully things will pick on the excitement meter soon.  That being the "good" type of excitement.  Really don't want any of the other kind.  That being said, till next time.........jc

  1. Judge a BBQ competition? Man, how tough can it get? Now I'm hungry for BBQ.

Beautiful sunsert photo. I like Columbia Falls, and also Flathead Lake (lakeside) - hope to spend some time up there this summer. Beautiful country.

Now where exactly is your garden again?

  2. When you get to Mountain View, go to the Ozark Folk Center, find Tina Wilcox, the head gardener and tell her I said, "hi."
We have a retirement house in MV and will be there at the beginning of May.

  4. Can I campaign for Pennsylvania? My state has plenty of beautiful state and federal parks and lots of interesting sight-seeing. Happy traveling wherever you go!
