"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"-MARK TWAIN

Alaska Journey, Day 1

IMG_2375 (Medium)

Actually it’s day three, but we spent the first two in Natchez.  We got away from home around nine on Saturday.  Had plans to spend Mother’s Day weekend with our daughters and their families.  Michelle, our youngest, and her husband did a prime rib on Saturday afternoon for everyone. On Sunday we attended church with Becky and her family, followed by burgers, sausage, and lots of other goodies from the grill.  To say we ate well over the two days would be an understatement.
We were up early this morning, just as the sun was rising over Natchez.  It didn’t take us long to get disconnected and under way.

This afternoon finds us at Lake Eufaula state park near Checotah, Oklahoma.  558 miles from home.  We had stopped here back in 2014, but didn’t recognize the park until just before we arrived.

Off the road and set up around 4 PM, we are enjoying the evening.  A nice breeze, and low humidity.  A welcome change…..jc
