"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"-MARK TWAIN

Newfoundland

So much has happened since my last post. We visited Sydney, NS, and the village if Louisbourg. A totally reconstructed French fort and village from the early 1700's. It was destroyed by the English but rebuilt by the Canadian government as a historical site using the original plans and drawings still found in France. We caught the ferry to Newfoundland and have been in Gros Morne NP. we took the boat tour of Western Brook Pond, and visited the Table lands.  Much to write, but pictures will have to do.

That's it. Slow internet...jc

  1. If you are still on the the Island and have the time, drive to Stephenville, That was the were we went after leaving Germany in the late 40's. There use too be an Air Force Base there named Ernest Harmon AFB. The Christmas photo in the Christmas post was taken there. I loved the area. Use to go to the beach and get lobsters and cook them on the beach and have a feast....fresh from the sea. Enjoy yourselves. Thanks for sharing. Brings back many happy memories. Horst sends
